A Full Menu of Preventive Care

There are so many things you can do at home to prevent dental problems. Eating right and minimizing sticky or sweet snacks; avoiding sugary or acidic beverages; establishing a regular, twice-daily routine of brushing and flossing; and protecting your teeth from damage are just a few of the ways you can take charge of your oral health.

But you can’t do it all on your own! Even the most diligent brushers can’t reach and clean all areas of their teeth to fully remove bacterial buildup. Plus, you can’t really see properly inside your mouth to check for developing issues. That’s why we try to set up a regular schedule of preventive dentistry for all of our Lancaster area patients from age 1 to 101!

  • Comprehensive Exams — are recommended at least once a year or performed at your regular hygiene visits. During these visits we check all parts of your teeth, oral tissue, neck, and jaw; measure your gum pockets; screen for jaw issues; and make sure everything is functioning the way nature intended. And don’t forget—your body is one connected system so these exams are just as important to your health as all your medical exams. All of these exams and screenings are designed to ensure that even the smallest problems will be caught early – when they are easier and less expensive to treat and have less impact on your overall wellness.
  • Oral Cancer Screenings—are an important part of your comprehensive exam. Oral cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers in America, with approximately 49,750 Americans newly diagnosed every year. Don’t skip this exam. It could save your life!
  • Digital X-Rays—allow us to get a clear picture of what’s going on under the surface of your teeth and tissues with much less exposure to radiation than with traditional x-rays.
  • Regularly Scheduled Hygiene—help scrub away bacterial buildup for shiny, clean teeth while keeping your gums and your body as healthy as can be.
  • Fluoride Treatments and Sealants—keep teeth guarded against decay and minimize sensitivity.
  • Mouthguards—protect your teeth against damage during sports or nighttime clenching and grinding.

All of this important, family dental care and prevention is available at any of our locations… plus, if you have tiny tots you would rather receive dedicated pediatric dentistry, we have that too! Check it out.
