Peter and Patti Skiadas are back in business.

The couple in June purchased the Strasburg Country Store and Creamery, The Yule Shoppe, Strasburg Food Locker, Strasburg Inn, three apartment buildings and two homes at 11 and 17 West Main St., Strasburg.

The Skiadases, who owned the Amish Barn Restaurant and were partners in the Leola Restaurant until last year, made settlement on the property in June. The real estate alone sold for $900.000.

The creamery and country store are housed in an 18th century building that was owned by John Gearhart and his son Eric since 1986. The business will remain unchanged, however it “may include more local fruit to the creamery’s ice cream,” Patti said.

The operation will employ about 30 full and part time employees.

“We have kept the entire key management and employees with the exception of a few additions,” Mrs. Skiadas said.

This is the latest endeavor for the Skiadases, whose previous holdings also include: Lancaster Dispensing Co., Market Fare Restaurant, The Historic Blue Star, The Lancaster Trust Building, Longwood Inn, Gateway Restaurant and Family Style Restaurant, where they lease pad sites to Fuddruckers, Applebee’s, Texas Roadhouse, and soon-to-be Asian Bistro.

The couple, who did the condominium conversion at the Hagar Arcade Building in downtown Lancaster, have a housing and self-storage development project in Sadsburyville and, as partners with Crown Avenue Associates, lease space to WLAN radio station.

The Skiadas’ children are also recent business owners.

Their son Nicholas and wife Holly own and operate the Chameleon Club. Daughter Angela and her husband Wade own and operate Greystone Manor Bed & Breakfast.

But that’s not the only Skiadas opening a new business: the couple’s nephew, dentist Anthony Skiadas, has opened a new 10 room, 6,000 square foot facility called Smilebuilderz, 1685 Crown Ave..

A native of Lancaster, Skiadas heralds a different vision for dentistry: “one that focuses on convenience, comfort and higher quality dental care.”

“Even our name reflects our mission,” Skiadas said. “We want to see you smile and we are going to do what it takes to build your smile.”

Fluent in English, Greek and Spanish, Skiadas provides patients with a team of specialized doctors including orthodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons, pediatric dentists and endodontists.
Skiadas earned his dental medicine degree from Temple University and practiced general and cosmetic dentistry at an office in West Chester, and spent time last year studying advancements in cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Bill Dorfman of ABC’s Extreme Makeover.
