Joseph
Torres Ponce de Leon began his higher education at Yale University
where he majored in Psychology with a Biology Track. He continued
on to earn his DMD, in 2005, from Temple University School of Dentistry
in Philadelphia PA. He has volunteered widely, offering dental care
to underprivileged children and special needs patients, and is currently
working to sponsor several trips to Central America (Honduras, Belize,
Guatemala) and Asia (Cambodia) to help provide dental treatment to
those in need.
Dr. Torres’ experience is impressive with associations and memberships
including the Hispanic Dental Association, American Dental Association,
Student National Dental Association, Endodontic Junior and Senior
Study Club, CDOP (Temple University Organization aimed at helping
incoming minorities with transition to dental school). Asian American
incoming minorities with transition to dental school) Asian American
Student Association (Temple University organization aimed at providing
students with additional study materials for dental courses, national
boards and practical; exams), American Student Dental Association,
Hispanic American Pre-Health Society (Yale University Support organization
for premedical and pre-dental students applying to professional school).
He is very excited to join the Smilebuilderz team, saying “At
Smilebuilderz I believe I will have the opportunity to provide patients
with dental care in a practice based on integrity, honesty, perfectionism,
and dedication to the patients and the community we serve. As a dentist
I have learned the importance of discussing all treatment options
with patients, so that patients can be informed of all possibilities,
and make their own choices”.
In his free time, Dr. Torres enjoys sports, fishing, traveling and
scuba diving.
